Grant and rebates programs

There are many federal and provincial incentives and rebates available to help you implement energy saving solutions. Read on to find out if you are eligible for any.

ECOENERGY RETROFIT
The Office of Energy Efficiency’s (OEE) ecoENERGY Retrofit program provides financial incentives for renovations aimed at improving a home’s energy efficiency.

Each qualifying upgrade has an associated incentive value: the more energy you save, the greater the incentive. The maximum grant value is $5,000.

Only equipment with an ENERGY STAR rating - the international standard for energy efficiency - qualify for the grant.

You could even be eligible for further rebates in your area! To be eligible for the Federal Ecoenergy rebate, your pre-retrofit energy evaluation must have been booked or completed before March 31, 2010.*

Four easy steps to receiving a grant:

  1. Hire a Natural Resources Canada certified energy advisor before you start renovating. The advisor will evaluate your home, give you an EnergyGuide rating, and recommend upgrades.
  2. Make one of the recommended energy upgrades within 18 months of the report or before March 31, 2011 (whichever comes first)
  3. Ask your energy advisor to do a post-retrofit evaluation. He or she will give you a new energy rating and submit a grant application for you.
  4. Expect to receive your cheque within 90 days of your post-retrofit evaluation.
